FitzGerald Fine Arts gallery in SoHo is showcasing the works ranging from Over-sized pots to wall panels from four of China’s renowned ceramicists. Reaching back thousands of years, entombed with emperors, lauded by scholars and hoarded by European nobility, porcelain has enjoyed a regal status as one of the most signify forms of Chinese art for over a millennium.
FitzGerald Fine Arts’ contemporary ceramics complement the older Jingdezhen porcelain on show elsewhere, ad caught the eye of well known antique collectors making their first contemporary purchases-“we know there was a niche here for this type of art.”
This exhibition presents a selection of new ceramic works from Jingdezhen kilns in China. Porcelain, alongside calligraphy and painting, represents the third pillar of China’s grand artist triumvirate. In Bring these artists’ works together for the first time, this exhibition is resenting the next chapter in a 1,700-year artistic tradition.
